Le terme \u00ab\u00a0confiance\u00a0\u00bb vient du latin\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"char-TC_txt_ital\"><em>cum fides<\/em>,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"char-TC_txt\">\u00ab\u00a0avec foi\u00a0\u00bb. La confiance est la facult\u00e9, pour une personne, de croire que les \u00e9v\u00e9nements \u00e0 venir ou les individus pr\u00e9sents dans son environnement n\u2019auront pas d\u2019interaction d\u00e9favorable ou, \u00e0 tout le moins, que ces interactions n\u2019auront pas un effet irr\u00e9parable.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"char-TC_txt\">Associant, selon le mot de saint Thomas d\u2019Aquin, \u00ab<\/span>\u00a0<em><span class=\"char-TC_txt_ital\">l\u2019espoir et la certitude<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<span class=\"char-TC_txt\">\u00bb, la confiance appartient \u00e0 l\u2019individu et renforce ses aptitudes, mais elle peut aussi le tromper et alt\u00e9rer la qualit\u00e9 de son jugement (la confiance dite \u00ab\u00a0aveugle\u00a0\u00bb). Cette ambivalence se manifeste par l\u2019emploi du terme avec le verbe \u00eatre comme avec le verbe avoir, inhabituel dans la langue fran\u00e7aise pour \u00e9voquer les sentiments. Car, tout comme le d\u00e9sir, la confiance nous appartient mais nous d\u00e9passe dans le m\u00eame temps. Et c\u2019est in\u00e9vitable, car la confiance est un pari implicite\u00a0: elle est \u00e9prouv\u00e9e ou elle est trahie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"para-TC_txt_lettrine\"><span class=\"char-TC_txt\">Or, la confiance est une condition de la performance. Ce terme anglais vient de l\u2019ancien fran\u00e7ais sous une forme l\u00e9g\u00e8rement diff\u00e9rente\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0parformance\u00a0\u00bb, qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0ach\u00e8vement\u00a0\u00bb. Et la relation entre la confiance et la performance semble \u00eatre une \u00e9vidence. Loin d\u2019affirmer ce qui semble aller de soi, les intervenants du colloque Graph ont analys\u00e9 le processus qui permet d\u2019instaurer un climat de confiance favorable \u00e0 la performance, en d\u00e9clinant cette dynamique au travers des diff\u00e9rentes formes de confiance \u00e9voqu\u00e9es tout au long de la journ\u00e9e de travail\u00a0: foi, amour, camaraderie, croyance dans la justice, croyance dans des promesses politiques.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"para-TC_txt_lettrine\"><span class=\"char-TC_txt\">Dans toutes ces formes, la confiance appara\u00eet comme une notion prospective\u00a0; or la performance est une notion mesur\u00e9e en rapport avec le pass\u00e9. La relation entre la confiance et la performance s\u2019\u00e9value donc in\u00e9vitablement sur le long terme. Et comme \u00ab<\/span>\u00a0<em><span class=\"char-TC_txt_ital\">on ne manage bien que ce que l\u2019on mesure<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<span class=\"char-TC_txt\">\u00bb selon Michel Yahiel, la mesure de la confiance est essentielle afin de pr\u00e9voir des actions correctrices. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que la confiance est un sentiment, sa quantification reste particuli\u00e8rement difficile. Cependant, des tentatives sont men\u00e9es dans tous les domaines de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9. La performance appara\u00eet\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"char-TC_txt_ital\">a contrario<\/span><\/em><span class=\"char-TC_txt\">\u00a0comme une notion quantifiable, en fonction de l\u2019objectif poursuivi et des moyens mis en \u0153uvre. Pourtant, la performance se diff\u00e9rencie du r\u00e9sultat, car elle inclut le processus qui a permis de l\u2019atteindre et ne rev\u00eat donc pas un caract\u00e8re uniquement comptable.
